The Manuscript

Although very small, in view its splendid binding and marvellous illumination work, this precious Book of Hours, which is housed in the Bibliothèque du Château de Chantilly, must be considered an absolute masterpiece.

The delicacy of the illustrations

As many as thirty illuminated illustrations, the work of the Milanese studio of Giovanni Ambrogio de Predis, adorn this very small, but extremely refined, votive book for private use. Indeed, we may consider this one of finest works of illumination produced in Lombardy.

A masterpiece of the art of the jeweller

Slightly larger than a packet of cigarettes (6.5 x 8.2 cm), this codex work, with its gilded silver, ivory and enamel binding, is one of the masterpieces of the jeweller’s art in Renaissance Lombardy.
